AMA supports third gender identifier for vital statistics, ID and driver’s licences

AMA is pleased to support today's announcement by the Government of Alberta to add a third gender identifier – Gender X – to birth certificates, government identification, and driver’s licences.

“For more than 90 years, our Association has built a relationship of trust with our members, and today we’re proud to serve a diverse membership of nearly one million Albertans. At our Registries counters, and across our Association, we will always serve our members with respect and inclusivity,” says Michelle Chimko, Chief Operating Officer, Alberta Motor Association.

“At AMA, we’ve always met our members where they are – whether it’s literally at the roadside or at important stages in their own life journeys. Our Registries team and our entire organization will always serve each of our members with respect, and our Association will always be a safe and welcoming environment.”
